choosing a no-drill perfect fit blind
A no-drill blind fits into the window itself rather than onto the wall around it. Small brackets slide in between the glass and the rubber glazing bead of a uPVC window or door, and the blind hangs from those, so nothing is screwed into the frame. It suits tilt-and-turn windows, glazed doors, bi-folds and conservatories, and anyone who wants the sill left clear.
Perfect Fit and Intu: frame or no frame
Perfect Fit is Louvolite's system. A slim aluminium frame clips over the window bead on patented spring brackets, and the blind sits inside that frame, pleated fabric running between top and bottom rails or a Venetian hanging within it. The frame reduces the light gaps at the edges and gives a finished, built-in look. Louvolite make it in white, silver, light grey, brown, mahogany, golden oak, black and anthracite, so it can match a coloured or woodgrain frame.
Intu does away with the full frame. The brackets still sit behind the rubber seal, but the blind hangs from a slim headrail with fine tensioning bars down each side. It is lighter to look at and shows more glass. Both systems move with the window when you open or tilt it, and neither has a loose cord.
Pleated, cellular or Venetian
For fabric, the Aquarius and Louvolite ranges both come in Intu or Perfect Fit, including the Hive cellular fabrics that trap air for extra insulation. The Venetian versions use aluminium slats in a wide choice of colours, and the slats tilt to steer the light, which is handy on a door where you want privacy without losing the view. Cosiflor pleated blinds, made by Blöcker in Bremen, reach the jobs the others can't: sloping and roof glazing, triangular and arched windows, and blinds that open top-down as well as bottom-up.
When a no-drill blind is not the right choice
These systems rely on the rubber bead of a modern uPVC window, so they won't suit timber sashes, older painted frames or most aluminium frames without a different fixing. Each pane gets its own blind, which is ideal on a door or a run of casements but less tidy across a wide picture window, where a single roller or Roman over the whole recess may look better. Plenty of older houses in Cornwall and Devon have a mix of timber and uPVC windows, so at the free home survey we check each window's bead before recommending one system over another.
common questions
What is a Perfect Fit blind?
It is a blind held in a slim frame that clips into the glazing bead of a uPVC window or door, with no drilling or screws. The frame moves with the window when it opens, keeps the blind close to the glass and reduces the light gaps at the sides. Perfect Fit is a Louvolite system and comes as pleated, cellular or Venetian.
Will a no-drill blind affect my window warranty?
Nothing is screwed or drilled into the frame, so it is left as the installer fitted it, and the blind can be unclipped again for cleaning. That is the main reason people choose them for new windows. If your installer's warranty has specific wording, it is worth checking, but the fitting does not damage the frame.
Do Perfect Fit blinds work on tilt-and-turn windows and bi-fold doors?
Yes, that is what they were designed for. An ordinary blind fixed above an inward-opening window gets in the way of the sash. A bead-fit blind is part of the glass panel, so it tilts, turns or folds back with the sash rather than getting in its way.
Are no-drill blinds child safe?
Yes. The pleated and Venetian versions are held in the frame or on tension bars with no free-hanging cords or chains, so there is no loop for a child to catch. Like all our blinds, they meet EN 13120 and the BBSA Make It Safe guidance.
